Beginning of CCR creation

CCR Plan

Research

This week I will be going to research about what kind of of CCR type of projects I want to, since that I have to do two of them. I will then research what type of videos other people did in the past so I can have some sort of reference to what I am going to do.

Script

I will draft a script for my video that includes the research results and a synopsis of the reflection. The script will have to be organized and have an opening, middle section, and end.

Storyboard

I am going to outline the visual components of my film opening that will be in a storyboard. You can use this to see the finished product in my mind's eye and make any required modifications.

Visual Effects

I am going to collect visual evidence to back my reflection reflection, such as pictures, videos, and animations. Use excellent resources that are pertinent to your subject and help to convey your point. As this will also add to the creative element of the project.

Overall

This is all that is going to go into the CCR when I start to produce it. This will all come into action when I finally edit the final project. I will try to work on it this week as much as I can as I also have to edit my film opening.

Camera equipment

Recording with an Iphone

When I recorded, I recorded with my iphone as it allowed for:

Advantages

Convenience, the majority of individuals always have their iPhones with them. This implies that there is no need to carry a separate camera because it is simple to take out and begin recording video swiftly and conveniently. High-quality video can be created with the superb cameras found on iPhones. The most recent versions have resolutions that can match many standalone cameras, up to 4K. Stability, the most recent iPhone models also come equipped with outstanding stabilization technology, which helps to lessen shaky footage and create smoother video. Editing, you can easily edit video footage on an iPhone using the iMovie software, which is pre-installed on the device. By doing this, you can cut costs and effort on outside editing software. iPhones make it simple to exchange videos

Disadvantages

Because iPhones have a small amount of storage, you might not be able to capture as much video as you'd like before running out of room. If you are recording in high-resolution formats like 4K, this may be particularly troublesome. The iPhone's battery can be quite taxed when recording video, so you might not be able to film for as long as you'd like before it runs out of juice. If you are recording in a remote area without access to a power source, this may be particularly troublesome. While the iPhone's camera creates high-quality video, its integrated microphone might not be adequate for recording high-quality audio. The iPhone camera app has a variety of shooting settings and features, but it may not provide as much manual control as standalone cameras. Your ability to adjust parameters like exposure, focus, and white balance may be constrained as a result. iPhones aren't built to endure rigorous use, and they risk damage if they're dropped or exposed to harsh conditions. This could be an issue if you need to use the device for a long time or are recording in difficult circumstances.

Other equipment

Although that I didn't use any other equipment to film my video, I could have used a tripod to make my video more stable, but I also wanted my video to seem more realistic as it is a handheld shot all the way through my video.

Choosing editing software

When deciding which editing software I wanted to use I researched which programs that were the best for my film opening and which has the best options to edit with, and this is what I discovered:

Adobe Premiere

Adobe Premiere allows for these features and updates:

Integration: Adobe Premiere Pro integrates seamlessly with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition. This allows for efficient and streamlined workflows between different software programs.

Professional Features: Adobe Premiere Pro offers a wide range of professional features, such as advanced color correction tools, multi-cam editing, and support for a wide range of video formats and codecs.

User Interface: Adobe Premiere Pro has a user-friendly interface that is easy to learn and use, making it a popular choice for both beginners and professionals.

Collaboration: Adobe Premiere Pro allows for collaboration between multiple users, making it a great choice for team-based projects.

Regular Updates: Adobe Premiere Pro is updated regularly with new features and bug fixes, ensuring that users have access to the latest tools and capabilities.

Davinci Resolve

These are some reasons why Davinci Resolve might be the better choice to edit my video with:

Advanced Color Correction: DaVinci Resolve is widely regarded as the industry standard for color correction, with a robust set of tools for adjusting color, saturation, and other aspects of an image.

Fusion Integration: DaVinci Resolve includes the Fusion visual effects and motion graphics software, allowing for advanced compositing and animation within the same program.

User Interface: DaVinci Resolve features a modern and customizable interface that is easy to learn and use, making it accessible to both beginners and professionals.

Audio Editing: DaVinci Resolve includes a powerful audio editing suite, with support for up to 22.2 channel audio, making it a great choice for projects with complex audio needs.

Free Version: DaVinci Resolve offers a free version that includes many of the same features as the paid version, making it an attractive option for those on a tight budget.

iMovie

These are some reasons why some might choose iMovie over any other editing software:

Easy to Use: iMovie has a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate, making it a great choice for beginners or those new to video editing.

Integration: iMovie is available exclusively for Mac users and integrates seamlessly with other Apple software applications, such as GarageBand and Final Cut Pro.

Cost: iMovie is free and comes pre-installed on all Mac computers, making it an affordable option for those on a tight budget.

Speed: iMovie is optimized for Mac hardware, allowing for fast and efficient editing of video footage.

Mobile Editing: iMovie is also available as a mobile app for iOS devices, allowing users to edit video footage on the go.

Overall

Overall, DaVinci Resolve offers advanced color correction, Fusion integration, and powerful audio editing capabilities, making it a popular choice among professionals. iMovie, on the other hand, is a basic video editing software that is easy to use and available for free to all Mac users.

While, adobe premiere pro allows to have much more advanced and has a lot more features for what I need and desire to have. The other programs do not have what I want, and I do have a lot more experience using adobe premiere pro than the other software's.

Scene Overview

Scene Development
The scene is focusing on the main character, Joey, as he is practicing for his upcoming hockey game. He skates and practices his stick handling throughout the scene.

We can see that Joey is practicing his shooting as we get a close up of the net of the puck going in. And before this scene you will see Joey shooting the puck and the next scene is the picture above.

We also see above the skates of Joey as he is practicing his skating and stickhandling. We get multiple shots that show he is working hard on his skating and handling of the puck.

And lastly, as we see above, Joey as he receives a depressed phone call and begins to cry, as the audience can assume that it could be about a family member. The audience can also assume that this will effect how he plays for his upcoming game.

Start of editing proecss

 Editing Process

I have started to edit my film opening. Although that it isn't much I have just started it as it i know that it will take a long period of time. I also know that I do not have the copyright license yet, but I just wanted to see what the video would look like with the song in it.

In the image above you can see a clip of the opening. What I did with that scene is, I slowed it down to 35%, because I thought the scene would look better with it beginning with a slow-mo. I also thought that the beginning of the song feels like it would be a good scene for a slow-mo.

Music/ Background music

Why music is important in a film opening

Music is an essential element of any film, and its importance in the opening sequence cannot be overstated. The opening of a film sets the tone for the entire story and creates the initial emotional connection with the audience. Music has the power to enhance the emotional impact of a film, and it can be used to evoke different emotions in the audience.

Here are some reasons why music is so important in a film's opening sequence:

Establishes the mood - Music is often used in the opening sequence to set the mood and tone for the film. For example, if the film is a horror movie, the music might be dark and foreboding to create a sense of dread and unease in the audience.

Creates anticipation - The opening music can also create anticipation and excitement in the audience. If the music is upbeat and energetic, it can create a sense of excitement and anticipation for what's to come.

Introduces the themes - Music can also be used to introduce the film's themes and motifs. For example, if the film is about a character's journey of self-discovery, the opening music might be reflective and introspective to introduce this theme.

Establishes the era - The music in the opening sequence can also be used to establish the era in which the film is set. For example, if the film is set in the 1960s, the music might be from that time period to create a sense of authenticity and nostalgia.

Overall, music is a critical element in a film's opening sequence because it sets the tone, creates anticipation, introduces themes, and establishes the era. It can evoke emotions, create atmosphere, and immerse the audience in the world of the film from the very beginning.

What song I want to use

So the song that I want to use is "I Wanna Be Sedated" by the Ramones. I think that this will fit well within my film. It would also fit the vibe that I want to receive when watching my film. I've already contacted the owner for the song and now just waiting for a response from them. If I do not receive an email from them, I will use a non copyrighted song that will set the same tone and vibe that I want from "I Wanna Be Sedated".

Change in plans/beginning of filming

So I was originally going to be the main star in my film opening, but when thinking about it, it would be much easier for me to record someone else playing the role of the main character because they don't know anything about the angles and would be much harder for them to film something that they are not aware of. So I decided to make my friend, Joey, the main actor because I know what shots and angles to shoot. This will make the filming process go by a bit faster because I know what I am doing.

I've started to film video this morning at 6am. I decided to make this change this morning when I started to film it by myself but I couldn't do it. Above, is a picture from what I filmed this morning. I believe I got enough clips but I need to check how many seconds I have just in case I have to record any more clips for my video and if I need to refilm anything. The thing is I can only film on weekend mornings so I need to see if my friend can film next weekend just in case.
