Talk Show Script - CCR
Script for one of the media projects
My Script:
Host: Welcome to the Late at Night Talk Show, I am Keith Peters, tonight we'll talk about the creation of a film opening that shows a hockey player, Joey practicing his hockey skills before his big game, right before something tragic happens in his life. The person who created the film opening is here with me today. Let me introduce to you, Maddox Peters!
Maddox: Thank you Keith, it is honor to be with you here tonight. It is very special to be here to share with all of you my insight of the process of the film opening and what me and Joey had to go through to get this out to all of you.
Host: Let's start with how you product represents social groups or problems and uses or questions norms.
Maddox: Instead of concentrating on the external
challenges of winning the game, the opening of our movie challenges the
conventions of sports movies by highlighting the interior struggles of a hockey
player. Because they are frequently ignored in popular sports movies, we wanted
to examine the psychological and emotional elements of being an athlete. Our
movie tackles the pressure and expectations put on young athletes, particularly
in environments where there is a lot of competition.
Host: What a unique perspective on the sports field. Could
you elaborate on how your product interacts with audiences and how actual media
texts would distribute it?
Maddox: We wanted our movie's beginning to connect with
viewers who might have encountered similar demands and expectations in their
lives, even those that weren't related to sports. The universal topics of
self-doubt and tenacity in our movie can connect with a wide audience. In order
to reach a larger audience, we intend to distribute our movie through film
festivals and internet streaming services.
Host: That is a really good idea. Let's talk about how this
endeavor helped you hone your production abilities.
Maddox: As a team, we developed effective
communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to play to our
abilities in order to realize a common goal. In order to improve the narrative,
we also improved our technical abilities, which included using various camera
angles, lighting setups, and sound design. In order to portray Joey's emotional
state during his practice, we tried with various methods, such as using
slow-motion shots and altering the color grading to set a somber tone.
Host: That's amazing. Can you elaborate on how you
incorporated software, hardware, and online tools into this project?
Maddox: We used online tools like Google Drive and
Zoom for collaboration and communication, as well as programs like Final Cut
Pro and Adobe Premiere to edit the video and add effects. To record
high-quality video and audio, we also used gear such as cameras, microphones,
and lighting fixtures. To guarantee the highest quality, we made sure to use
the appropriate tools for each shot.
Host: You appear to have employed a variety of technologies
to realize your idea. Finally, can you tell us about any difficulties you had
when creating this movie's opening?
Maddox: One of the difficulties we had was getting
the proper video of the exercise. To acquire the greatest possible footage, we
had to carefully consider our shot placement and anticipate Joey's actions. It
was occasionally difficult for us to focus because of the rink's background noise
and other distractions. However, with good planning and communication, we were
able to get through these challenges.
Host: That is wonderful to hear. We appreciate the team's
participation in today's discussion regarding the creation of our film's opening.
We are eager to present it to audiences and see where it leads.
Maddox: Yes, it had been very great to speak with you tonight, and I hope that all of you get the chance to see it for your selves after hearing what went behind this process of being able to get this out to everyone. Thank you and goodnight!

Group Meeting 2
Group Meeting Overview
Teamwork and cooperation require group meetings, which are even more important when working on a creative project like a movie. I recently participated in a group discussion where we talked about our film openings, our editing work, and our plans for critical reflection. I'll discuss my impressions and thoughts on this meeting in this blog entry.
First, we shared our work on editing our films to kick off the meeting. It was fascinating to observe how each group member had a different editing strategy and style. Others prioritized sound, while some were more visually oriented. It was fascinating to see how various editing methods could completely change the look of the same footage. While others still needed to finish editing, they still were able to give and retain knowledge from the meeting.
We talked about the editing process before moving on to our picture openings. Each of us had prepared a succinct summary of the first scene in our movie, which we presented to the group. This activity helped us get feedback on our artistic decisions and improved our comprehension of one another's artistic perspectives.
We explored the themes and motifs that we were trying to communicate through our films as we got more into talking about the openings of our films. The conversation was stimulating and gave us a better grasp of the underlying ideas we wanted to convey to our audience.
At the meeting's conclusion, we talked about our intentions for critical reflection. We agreed that it was critical reflection on our work that would help us find areas for narrative development. We also talked about the various different ideas that each group member came up with and how they were going to incorporate them into each of the two media projects.
In conclusion, this group meeting was a valuable learning opportunity that aided in the development of our editing abilities, the discussion of our creative goals and themes, and the organization of our critical reflection. It served as a reminder to me of the value of critical thought, constructive criticism, and group input in the creative process.

Beginning of CCR creation
CCR Plan
Research
Script
I will draft a script for my video that includes the research results and a synopsis of the reflection. The script will have to be organized and have an opening, middle section, and end.
Storyboard
I am going to outline the visual components of my film opening that will be in a storyboard. You can use this to see the finished product in my mind's eye and make any required modifications.
Visual Effects
I am going to collect visual evidence to back my reflection reflection, such as pictures, videos, and animations. Use excellent resources that are pertinent to your subject and help to convey your point. As this will also add to the creative element of the project.

Camera equipment
Recording with an Iphone
When I recorded, I recorded with my iphone as it allowed for:
Advantages
Convenience, the majority of individuals always have their iPhones with them. This implies that there is no need to carry a separate camera because it is simple to take out and begin recording video swiftly and conveniently. High-quality video can be created with the superb cameras found on iPhones. The most recent versions have resolutions that can match many standalone cameras, up to 4K. Stability, the most recent iPhone models also come equipped with outstanding stabilization technology, which helps to lessen shaky footage and create smoother video. Editing, you can easily edit video footage on an iPhone using the iMovie software, which is pre-installed on the device. By doing this, you can cut costs and effort on outside editing software. iPhones make it simple to exchange videos
Disadvantages
Because iPhones have a small amount of storage, you might not be able to capture as much video as you'd like before running out of room. If you are recording in high-resolution formats like 4K, this may be particularly troublesome. The iPhone's battery can be quite taxed when recording video, so you might not be able to film for as long as you'd like before it runs out of juice. If you are recording in a remote area without access to a power source, this may be particularly troublesome. While the iPhone's camera creates high-quality video, its integrated microphone might not be adequate for recording high-quality audio. The iPhone camera app has a variety of shooting settings and features, but it may not provide as much manual control as standalone cameras. Your ability to adjust parameters like exposure, focus, and white balance may be constrained as a result. iPhones aren't built to endure rigorous use, and they risk damage if they're dropped or exposed to harsh conditions. This could be an issue if you need to use the device for a long time or are recording in difficult circumstances.
Other equipment
Although that I didn't use any other equipment to film my video, I could have used a tripod to make my video more stable, but I also wanted my video to seem more realistic as it is a handheld shot all the way through my video.

Choosing editing software
When deciding which editing software I wanted to use I researched which programs that were the best for my film opening and which has the best options to edit with, and this is what I discovered:
Adobe Premiere
Adobe Premiere allows for these features and updates:
Integration: Adobe Premiere Pro integrates seamlessly with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition. This allows for efficient and streamlined workflows between different software programs.
Professional Features: Adobe Premiere Pro offers a wide range of professional features, such as advanced color correction tools, multi-cam editing, and support for a wide range of video formats and codecs.
User Interface: Adobe Premiere Pro has a user-friendly interface that is easy to learn and use, making it a popular choice for both beginners and professionals.
Collaboration: Adobe Premiere Pro allows for collaboration between multiple users, making it a great choice for team-based projects.
Regular Updates: Adobe Premiere Pro is updated regularly with new features and bug fixes, ensuring that users have access to the latest tools and capabilities.
Davinci Resolve
These are some reasons why Davinci Resolve might be the better choice to edit my video with:
Advanced Color Correction: DaVinci Resolve is widely regarded as the industry standard for color correction, with a robust set of tools for adjusting color, saturation, and other aspects of an image.
Fusion Integration: DaVinci Resolve includes the Fusion visual effects and motion graphics software, allowing for advanced compositing and animation within the same program.
User Interface: DaVinci Resolve features a modern and customizable interface that is easy to learn and use, making it accessible to both beginners and professionals.
Audio Editing: DaVinci Resolve includes a powerful audio editing suite, with support for up to 22.2 channel audio, making it a great choice for projects with complex audio needs.
Free Version: DaVinci Resolve offers a free version that includes many of the same features as the paid version, making it an attractive option for those on a tight budget.
iMovie
These are some reasons why some might choose iMovie over any other editing software:
Easy to Use: iMovie has a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate, making it a great choice for beginners or those new to video editing.
Integration: iMovie is available exclusively for Mac users and integrates seamlessly with other Apple software applications, such as GarageBand and Final Cut Pro.
Cost: iMovie is free and comes pre-installed on all Mac computers, making it an affordable option for those on a tight budget.
Speed: iMovie is optimized for Mac hardware, allowing for fast and efficient editing of video footage.
Mobile Editing: iMovie is also available as a mobile app for iOS devices, allowing users to edit video footage on the go.
Overall
Overall, DaVinci Resolve offers advanced color correction, Fusion integration, and powerful audio editing capabilities, making it a popular choice among professionals. iMovie, on the other hand, is a basic video editing software that is easy to use and available for free to all Mac users.
While, adobe premiere pro allows to have much more advanced and has a lot more features for what I need and desire to have. The other programs do not have what I want, and I do have a lot more experience using adobe premiere pro than the other software's.

Editing Process
In the image above you can see a clip of the opening. What I did with that scene is, I slowed it down to 35%, because I thought the scene would look better with it beginning with a slow-mo. I also thought that the beginning of the song feels like it would be a good scene for a slow-mo.

Music/ Background music
Why music is important in a film opening
Music is an essential element of any film, and its importance in the opening sequence cannot be overstated. The opening of a film sets the tone for the entire story and creates the initial emotional connection with the audience. Music has the power to enhance the emotional impact of a film, and it can be used to evoke different emotions in the audience.
Here are some reasons why music is so important in a film's opening sequence:
Establishes the mood - Music is often used in the opening sequence to set the mood and tone for the film. For example, if the film is a horror movie, the music might be dark and foreboding to create a sense of dread and unease in the audience.
Creates anticipation - The opening music can also create anticipation and excitement in the audience. If the music is upbeat and energetic, it can create a sense of excitement and anticipation for what's to come.
Introduces the themes - Music can also be used to introduce the film's themes and motifs. For example, if the film is about a character's journey of self-discovery, the opening music might be reflective and introspective to introduce this theme.
Establishes the era - The music in the opening sequence can also be used to establish the era in which the film is set. For example, if the film is set in the 1960s, the music might be from that time period to create a sense of authenticity and nostalgia.
Overall, music is a critical element in a film's opening sequence because it sets the tone, creates anticipation, introduces themes, and establishes the era. It can evoke emotions, create atmosphere, and immerse the audience in the world of the film from the very beginning.
What song I want to use
So the song that I want to use is "I Wanna Be Sedated" by the Ramones. I think that this will fit well within my film. It would also fit the vibe that I want to receive when watching my film. I've already contacted the owner for the song and now just waiting for a response from them. If I do not receive an email from them, I will use a non copyrighted song that will set the same tone and vibe that I want from "I Wanna Be Sedated".

Change in plans/beginning of filming
So I was originally going to be the main star in my film opening, but when thinking about it, it would be much easier for me to record someone else playing the role of the main character because they don't know anything about the angles and would be much harder for them to film something that they are not aware of. So I decided to make my friend, Joey, the main actor because I know what shots and angles to shoot. This will make the filming process go by a bit faster because I know what I am doing.

Storyboarding
What is storyboarding?
Storyboarding is a visual planning tool used in various creative industries such as film, animation, advertising, and video game development. It involves creating a sequence of illustrations or images to represent the flow of a story or concept, usually accompanied by brief notes describing the action or dialogue taking place.
The purpose of storyboarding is to provide a visual representation of the narrative or concept in a clear and concise way, allowing for efficient communication and collaboration between different members of a creative team. It helps to establish the pacing, composition, and overall structure of a project, and can also be used to identify potential issues or areas for improvement before production begins.
Storyboarding importance
Storyboarding is important because it allows creators to:
Visualize the story: Storyboarding helps creators to visualize the story and determine the visual representation of each scene. It helps to develop the look and feel of the project, including the framing, composition, lighting, and color.
Plan the project: Storyboarding helps creators to plan the project by breaking down the story into individual scenes and shots. It helps to establish the pacing, sequence, and flow of the story, as well as identify any potential issues before production begins.
Communicate the vision: Storyboarding allows creators to communicate their vision to the rest of the team, including directors, animators, cinematographers, and editors. It helps to ensure everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goal.
Save time and money: Storyboarding can save time and money by identifying potential problems before production begins. It helps to avoid reshoots, revisions, and other costly mistakes by addressing them during the pre-production phase.
My storyboard
Below is my storyboard, I will use these images and descriptions to help me when I am filming to tell me what shots I should be using and will this as a reference if I seem I cant remember what shots I should be using:

Learning of CCR
Today in class my teacher, Mrs.Stoklosa, taught the class how to create a quality creative critical reflection(CCR), which is where I have to create two media texts in which I have to reflect upon the whole process including the planning process, production, and post production. Throughout reflecting on the process I have to answer 4 major questions that incorporate those factors within the questions. Our teacher also gave us "Don'ts", meaning that she gave us a list of things to not incorporate in our CCR; some of which include: no talking head, basically saying that she just doesn't want us to speak into the camera the whole time and wants us to add pictures of research or clips from our film opening, do not wing it meaning that she wants us to have a script and not just say things that come to mind when recording, and finally she said not to provide general responses and for our answers to be specific.
In our notes we went in depth into each question and broke them down into simpler terms so that when I go to write the script for my CCR it will be much easier for me to understand what my notes say. We also talked about how there are many different ways to represent your CCR and how they can better help your audience visualize what your talking about, instead of just having your head just being there and talking the whole time. Some examples our teacher gave us were talk show, a presentation but have a voice over while the video is playing, an enhanced podcast meaning that the podcast could include sounds from your project, and a director commentary.
My notes from class today:

Relatable Films
As most of you should know by now I am creating a sports drama film. There are many films that are revolved around this one genre. This genre consists of sports and drama, which is literally in the name of it, but there are many aspects that make that genre. These aspects include mainly focusing on one athlete or one team so that the audience feels the emotional connection between them and the character or characters, the sport is normally the disguise to mask what message the movie is actually trying to convey, and another important one normally about how and why they got to the final game or to winning the championship. With these aspects, there are many films use them dominantly throughout the films and where I will be taking most of my inspiration from.
Most of these films are very well known between people who watch these sports or even just popular with any audience in general. Some of these films include Miracle ,Rocky, Creed, The Blind Side, and Southpaw. These movies in my opinion are very popular within our generation, as many people like to be motivated as these movies do just that. Some movies listed below:
